GLOBAL RELIEF '10: HAITI RELIEF AND RECOVERY

The results are in!

169 Penny Harvest schools from around the country pledged a total of $27,420.

After a week of voting, the National Roundtable has made its final decisions! Roundtables from NYC, Seattle, Ohio and Colorado engaged in meaningful discussion and debate to decide how to best allocate the amassed fund.  Click here for the full story.

Stay tuned!  In the upcoming weeks, the organizations we have partnered with: Ecole Le Bon Samaritain, Clean Water for Haiti, Haitian Women for Haitian Refugees and Konbit Pou Edikasyon are going to prepare a report, which will be sent out to all pledged schools, detailing their proposed use of the funds you have allocated.

How to get involved

The Action Guide is a student friendly packet that contains stories about issues that many Haitians face and information about our partner organizations currently working in Haiti.  In about 1 meeting, your students will be able to discuss how the earthquake has effected Haiti and the organizations that are working to help.

As part of the curriculum, we invite roundtables to join the first ever National Roundtable by pledging a small portion of their funds (we recommend 10%) and voting on how to divide the amassed collection among our partner organizations.

Global Relief Fund Timeline:

  • *Last day to pledge a portion of the Roundtable funds: April 9th
  • Voting Week to select organizations: April 19th-30th
  • Collective totals per organization announced: May 1st

how can i help?

The incredible earthquake that shook Haiti on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at 4:53pm was the strongest the country had experienced in over 200 years. We were all saddened to see the huge amount of damage it has done to the island and the people. We know during natural disaster such as these that we must come together as one community to make a great impact.

We are committed to providing our students with meaningful opportunities to give back and make a lasting impact. We invite all roundtables to come together by pledging a portion* of their Penny Harvest funds to the Global Relief Fund: Haiti Rebuild and Recover. The Global Relief Fund will be our first-ever Nationwide Philanthropy Roundtable, amassed and allocated by Penny Harvest schools from across the country.

Join Penny Harvest schools around the nation!  Pledge a portion of Roundtable funds to participate in the first-ever Nationwide Philanthropy Roundtable to allocate the Global Relief Fund.  Click here for details.
