SCHOOLS OF EXCELLENCE 08/09

Congratulations Penny Harvest Schools of Excellence 08/09!

The quality and creativity of the applications for the third annual Schools of Excellence Award far exceeded our expectations. We received over 30 applications of all shapes and sizes, ranging from a quilt to DVDs, scrapbooks and videos from a diverse group of Penny Harvest schools.

The Penny Harvest School of Excellence selection committee – including members of the Penny Harvest NYC Advisory Board and Common Cents senior staff –scored the applications on the basis of the demonstrated quality of their program, the depth of their described program innovations and the overall detail and presentation of their application.

Ultimately, a total of 7 schools were awarded as Penny Harvest Schools of Excellence 08/09 with the highest honors for scoring in the top 20% of all applications submitted. A select group of 10 schools were recognized with first honors for scoring in the top 50% of all applications submitted.  Since we were so impressed by the quality of this year’s applications, 18 schools will also be recognized as Penny Harvest Schools of Excellence 08/09.  Download the Judging Rubric and Scorecard used to select this year’s winners.

All 35 schools will receive their certificates of recognition and be recognized at our Penny Harvest Professional Development sessions in the Fall. Stay tuned for live updates in September!
